Judges sound alarm over lawyer workloads

From Morning Report, 8:14 am on 27 July 2023

Chief High Court and District Court Judges have written a letter to the rest of the country's judges sounding the alarm about high workloads and stress for lawyers.

The courts are playing catch-up from years of Covid-related delays, which is putting pressure on the justice system.

The New Zealand Law Society prompted the two judges to write the letter, with particular concerns for criminal and family lawyers.

New Zealand Law Society president Frazer Barton spoke to Corin Dann.
