Two registered nurses say they're shocked a majority of Te Whatu Ora nurses and midwives voted to accept the new pay offer achieved through arbitration.

The settlement includes a $4,000 salary increase for all roles, backdated to April.

There are further increases of between $1,000 and $2,000, or three percent, depending on job and seniority.

Tracy Black and Helen Kemp are union delegates for the Nurses Organisation who are unhappy the agreement has failed to address poor working conditions.

Black and Kemp spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
