The government has announced electric vehicle owners will now pay road user charges, costing drivers 76 dollars for every thousand kilometres. The charges will begin from April the first.
That is despite Waka Kotahi documents released to RNZ under the Official Information Act last year, forecasting an increase in non-compliance and debt for customers.
