The Council of Trade Unions is urging the Government not to cut public spending to reduce inflation.
Annual inflation increased by 4.7 percent last year, down from 5.6 percent the previous year.
Trade unions say government support is needed for middle and low-income families, not spending cuts, which could harm the economy.
