Manu World Champs relocated after death in harbour

From Morning Report, 8:30 am on 29 January 2024

A new nationwide diving competition had its first weekend clouded by the death of a man just metres from the event's planned location.

Thirty-three-year-old Jarreth Colquhoun didn't resurface after jumping off an historic Wellington waterfront crane on Friday afternoon.

The Manu World Champs, which were due to take place at the Taranaki Street diving area, were shifted at the last minute to the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre.

Event organiser Scott Rice spoke to Corin Dann.
