NZ to ban 'forever chemicals' in cosmetic products

New Zealand will soon ban what have become known as "forever chemicals" in cosmetic products in a bid to protect consumers and the environment.

The Environment Protection Authority will introduce the ban in 2027, on cosmetics such as nail polish, shaving cream, foundation and lipstick which contain the substance PFAS, which is notoriously difficult to break down.

Auckland University of Technology professor of chemistry Allan Blackman spoke to Corin Dann.
