Scrapping fuel tax will kill transport projects: Auckland Councillor

An Auckland Councillor says scrapping the regional fuel tax will kill off billions-of-dollars' worth of transport projects.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown has confirmed the government will end the city's tax of 11.5 cents per litre of fuel on June the 30th.

Brown says the government will consider law changes to bring in other tools such as time of use charging, value capture, tolling, and public-private partnerships.

But it's unclear when such tools would become available.

Auckland councillor Richard Hills who chairs the planning committee spoke to Corin Dann
