A resident of a storm-stricken Auckland beach says the community is on the up, a year after being hit by a deadly cyclone.
Auckland's west coast was severely damaged during Cyclone Gabrielle last year, with landslips cutting off communities and levelling houses.
In Muriwai, two volunteer firefighters were killed when a slip hit the flooded home they were in.
