Saving a forest from kauri dieback with rongoā Māori

From Nine To Noon, 11:30 am on 15 September 2020

As the fight against kauri dieback continues, a traditional Maori healer is using indigenous medicine to help save the ancient trees.

Tohe Ashby belongs to Northland iwi Ngati Hine, and is using his knowledge and skills of rongoā to help heal kauri in the region with the dieback disease - as well as passing that knowledge onto students he teaches.

His efforts have been captured in a new Loading Docs short documentary called Te Wao Nui, by director Ngariki Ngatae.
