Calls grow louder to cancel today's Australia- New Zealand Test

Back to Australia where the third and final cricket Test between Australia and New Zealand in Sydney is set to get underway, despite mounting pressure to cancel the match.

The intense bushfires burning across the south-east of the country is blowing a hazy smoke across Sydney, and there are concerns it could cause respiratory and visibility problems for the players on the field.

There is also some criticism that simply now is not the time for a game of cricket, with large parts of the country on fire and an expectation that more people will die from the bushfires.

Sports reporter Joe Porter spoke to Leigh-Marama McLachlan.
