Max Olijnyk is a Wellington-based writer, photographer and ageing skateboarder. His work has appeared in Turbine Kapohau, Smith Journal, The Age, Vice and through his own imprint Freddo Books.

A Skate in Town is taken from the draft novel worked on during the MA in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters VUW. The novel, tentatively titled ‘Hard Out’, explores the themes of friendship, parenthood and isolation ...  as well as the magic of skateboarding.
