SONG: TITIRO MAI, E TE ATUA

Artist: Haatea Kapa Haka, David Tapene
Words/Music: Himene 111
Recording: Private 2023

Titiro mai, e te Atua,
Ki tenei whakaminenga,
Kia whakarongo iho koe
Ki tenei rangi whakapai.

Hei konei ra koe noho ai,
Hei waengai a matou nei:
Manaakitia mai ra e koe
Te kahui o tou atawhai:

Kia tika ai te waiata
Kia pono ai te karakia;
He mea kia riroiho ai
Te taro o te oranga.

Kia tau te oro whakapai
I roto i te whare nei;
Hei konei oho ake ai
Nga Areruia hari nui.
Amine

God, look
At this gathering
So that you may hear
This song of praise.

Let you be one with us
In our midst
May you bless
The gathering which you care for.

So that we may sing righteously
And pray faithfully
So that we may receive
The bread of life.

Let the songs of praise be beautiful
In this house;
It is here this present moment
To sing with Hallelujahs of great happiness.
Amen

Tiaho mai ra roto i e po,

Ora mate hei au koe Noho ai.
Amine.

Lord abide with me
through this long night
of the world’s problems
Come closer and abide with me.

The days of a man’s life
is as the ebb of the tide.
You are the basis of life.
Come closer and abide with me.

You are our defence
against our enemies,
You  gently lead me
Come closer and abide with me.

I will not be overcome
with troublesome sin,
I evade all temptations
Through you I triumph.

Reveal your cross to me
as a glow in the night,
I observe from afar,

In life or death, abide in me.
Amen.

Te Karakia O Te Atua
(The Lord’s Prayer)
E tō mātou Matua i te rangi
(Our Parent in the spirit world)
Kia tapu tou Ingoa
(Sacred is your Name)
Kia tae mai tou rangatira-tanga.
(Bring us Your Chiefly rule);
Kia meatia tau e pai ai
(May it happen in the way that is to You, good)
ki runga i te whenua,
(may it happen on earth)
kia rite ano ki to te rangi.
(In the same way as in spirit world).
Homai ki a mātou aianei
(Give us now)
he taro mā mātou mo tēnei ra.
(The food we need this day).
Murua o mātou hara
(Strip us of our sins);

(So that we, the slaves of sin, may be with you again).
Aua hoki mātou e kawea kia whaka-waia;
(Do not lead us into temptation);
Engari whaka-orangia mātou, i te kino:
(May we be whole, away from things evil);
Nou hoki te rangatira-tanga,
(Through your chiefly position, is)
te kaha,
(the power)

(and the glory).
Ake, ake, ake.
(Forever and ever)

(Amen)

SONG: TOKU WAIROA, OHO MAI

Artist: Haatea Kapa Haka, David Tapene
Words/Music: Himene 89/John Dykes
Recording: Private 2023

Toku Wairua, oho mai
Whakarongo ake ra
Nei ta Ihu kupu mai
He aroha ranei tou.

Naku koe i tango mai
I nga here whakarau
Naku koe i ora ai
He aroha ranei tou.

Noku te aroha nui
Pumau tonu ake nei
Te ai tona rite mai
He aroha ranei tou.

Tera te torona mou
Te kororia tino nui
Ki mai koia ki ahau
He aroha ranei tou

Te Ariki koia nei
Ko te mate i ahau
Mau ahau e ako mai
E aroha pono ai
Amine

O my Spirit, arise
Listen carefully,
To Jesus' question:
Do you have love?

I have brought you
out of captivity,
I give you life:
Do you have love?

Great is my compassion
instilled within me –
He says, “Be like me”
Do you have love?

There is a throne for you
and boundless glory;
He keeps asking,
Do you have love?

It was the Lord
Who died for me,
Teach me Lord
To love honestly
Amen

SONG: E KINO KOE TE INGOA NEI

Artist: Haatea Kapa Haka, David Tapene
Words/Music: Himene 76/Cuthbert Howard
Recording: Private 2023

E Kino koe te ingoa nei
To Ihu ingoa nui
Pa rekareka ana mai
Te panga ki ahau

Te Ingoa ra e ngaro ai
Nga he e pehi nei
He mana ia e ora ai
Te wairua hiakai

Te ingoa pai, te Toka nui
E piri ai ahau
Te puna e pupu mai ai
Nga atawhai katoa

E Ihu toku Hepara
Ariki Kingi nui
Tenei ka tukua atu mou
He rangi whakapai

Hei kawe noa, hei tohe nui
Matoke tonu ia
Kia kitea atu ra ‘no koe
Ko kona ngoto ai

I tenei wa me whakahua
Ko tou aroha nui
Te wa e mate ai ahau
Manaakitia e koe
Amine.

Do not slander this Name
The precious Name of Jesus
It is an enjoyment
That has an effect on me.

That Name banishes
The sins that burden
It has authority to enliven
The searching spirit.

The precious Name and great Rock
That I cling to
The spring from which gushes
Grace for all.

Jesus my Shepherd
Lord and almighty King
(I) present to you
A song of worship.

To carry and persevere
In cold times
Until you are seen
That’s when it is deeply imbedded.

At this time (I) proclaim
Your precious love
At my time of dying
Bless and care for me.
Amen.
