BACH: Violin Partita No 1 in B minor, BWV 1002

From Music Alive, 8:00 pm on 4 February 2019

While the best-known solo violin work by Bach is undoubtedly the 'Chaconne' from his second Partita, the first partita is interesting in several ways. It has an unconventional structure with four movements:

  • Allemande
  • Courante
  • Sarabande
  • Tempo di Bouree

Each of these is followed by a corresponding 'Double' or variation on the original.
