Maxwell Fernie pupil returns to play much-loved organ

From Upbeat, 1:20 pm on 6 October 2017

St Mary of the Angels has opened its doors to music again after four years of earthquake strengthening work. The 95-year-old Catholic church  is a much-loved space for Wellington music-makers and international guests and houses the special Maxwell Fernie Organ, named after the former Director of Music and organist who held the post for 40 years. Organist Christopher Hainsworth was a pupil of Maxwell Fernie and he’s visiting from France to perform a recital on the organ tonight. Proceeds raised will help the Maxwell Fernie Trust continue to offer opportunities to young and aspiring organists.
