Unusual early cyclone forms in Pacific

From , 3:03 pm on 27 September 2018

A cyclone has formed over the Solomon Islands and is forecast to become a category two storm on the scale of one to five as it heads south.

It's more than a month ahead of the official cyclone season which runs from the beginning of November to the end of April.

Chris Brandolino of the New Zealand climate research institute NIWA  says Cyclone Liua is the first cyclone to form in the south-west Pacific in the month of September for nearly seventy years.
