More people are turning up for duty at the Solomons tuna canner SolTuna thanks to a project to address the company's high rate of absenteeism.

The IFC, which is part of the World Bank group, had already helped the company, by providing a $US10 million dollar loan to upgrade and expand its processing capacity.

Then it began tackling environmental and social standards including the absenteeism issue.

The IFC's gender specialist, Amy Luinstra, told Don Wiseman they undertook research to find out why people were not turning up for work.
