Plenty of jobs for RSE workers in Hawke's Bay - Ministry

From , 6:02 am on 25 February 2023

Since this program was aired Fiona Whiteridge, General Manager Refugee and Migrant Services, Immigration New Zealand sent through the following clarifications on the situation for RSE workers in flood affected regions of the upper and central North Island as of 1 March 2023.

  • The wellbeing of RSE workers is our top priority.
  • Nearly all RSE workers are now back in RSE approved accommodation.
  • There are 52 workers that will remain in temporary accommodation for a further week, and are based together at a community hub. Most of these workers have accommodation unaffected by flooding but are waiting for their power to be reconnected.
  • RSE employers are still responsible for their workers, including pastoral care and are required to pay them a minimum of $22.10 per hour for 30 hours a week.
