The autonomous Bougainville Government is seeking an urgent meeting with the Papua New Guinea Government over Port Moresby's plans for the tabling of its referendum on independence.
Bougainville had earlier expressed its concern that the referendum, which was overwhelmingly in favour of independence, would face an absolute vote from MPs rather than a simple vote.
Now Bougainville's worried that the PNG Government wants to spread the debate over the referendum to at least two sessions of parliament, which the Bougainville Minister who heads the Independence Mission Implementation, Ezekiel Masatt, fears would allow the debate to go on forever.
