According to the World Health Organisation measles cases have increased by 225 percent in the Western Pacific region.

Cases jumped from just over 1400 in 2022 to more than 5000 last year.

WHO Western Pacific regional director Dr Saia Ma'u Piukala told RNZ Pacific's Caleb Fotheringham there was a drop in measles and rubella vaccinations during the pandemic.
