RNZ's science producer Alison Ballance, who brings Our Changing World and the Elemental series to Afternoons, is in Antarctica for two weeks to look at what happens at Scott Base over summer.
Scott Base is New Zealand's outpost in the region and is literally just next door to McMurdo Station the largest US base.
