In decades past, the show received sacks full of letters from Kiwis seeking justice, current Fair Go host Pippa Wetzell tells Jesse Mulligan.

She thinks they probably still receive the same amount but now it's via email, Facebook and TikTok.

"In New Zealand, we like things to be fair and unfairness still exists out there."

People who have a sense that no-one is listening to them feel really empowered when Fair Go takes up their cause,  Wetzell says.

"I think people will always enjoy someone being there to stand up for less powerful people."

She describes the show as "a mixture of really robust journalism with a little sparkle, a little bit of fun".

"There's been a few objects flown through the years, a lot of chasing people down, a lot of excuses, all that sort of thing. Those are the things people often remember Fair Go for."
