"Girls on Ice" Aotearoa is a programme hosted by Te Puna Pātiotio the-Antarctic Research Centre at Victoria University.
By taking them out on field trips, it aims to inspire teen girls into the still heavily male dominated fields of snow science and glaciology.
The first expedition - a 10 day trip to Mount Ruapehu, which saw participants conduct research on the mountainside - has just concluded.
