Health experts concerned as measles spreads from Auckland

From Checkpoint, 6:15 pm on 29 August 2019

Public health experts say they're concerned Auckland's measles outbreak will soon become a nationwide problem.

The Ministry of Health is trying to contain an escalating number of cases in the city, and is warning people not to travel to Auckland if they're not immunised.

So far there have been 850 cases of the infectious virus across the country, with about one in three needing hospital attention.

And the outbreak has escalated, with more than a quarter of cases happening in Auckland in the last two weeks.
