Traveller describes isolation in room with no open windows

From Checkpoint, 6:14 pm on 22 June 2020

Meanwhile, a man who arrived back in New Zealand to be with his dying father has described a hellish four days confined to an Auckland hotel room with no opening windows.

Chris Tunbridge is staying at the Ellerslie hotel that previously hosted two women who tested positive for Covid-19 after leaving managed isolation early on compassionate grounds.

Tunbridge says Covid-19 tests only started at the hotel after that breach.

Guests were then locked in their rooms for the best part of a week.

Chris Tunbridge told Checkpoint reporter Nick Truebridge those isolating at the hotel were only allowed out over the weekend.
