Hamilton needs more licenced outdoor space under level 2

Bars and restaurants are gearing up for a busy weekend in Hamilton - but as Covid restrictions squeeze serving space, they want bigger borders around where they can sell booze.

Waikato is back at level two and many hospitality outfits are expanding their outdoor spaces to boost seating numbers.

But that doesn't mean their liquor license extends too - meaning some tables can have a beer and others cannot.

Now they want the government to step in and help, as they desperately try to recoup costs from lost lockdown earnings.
