Survivors of LynnMall terror attack want public inquest

From Checkpoint, 5:50 pm on 11 March 2024

Survivors and witnesses of the LynnMall terror attack want the coroner to hold a public inquest to determine whether the events of that day could have been prevented.

Ahamed Samsudeen was not long out of prison when he stabbed 8 people at a supermarket and was fatally shot by police in 2021.

A hearing is underway in Auckland to determine the scope and form of a coronial inquiry into his death, which has been the subject of five state agency investigations.

Amy Williams reports.
