Rates gone up by an average of 15% due to infrastructure costs

Think running a household is expensive? Try running a city.

A report commissioned by Local Government New Zealand has found that rates have gone up an astonishing average 15% this year.

The reason being the rising cost of infrastructure.

It found the cost of building bridges, sewage systems and roads has gone up over 25% with bridges rising an eye watering 38%.
