Raelene Castle:convert Olympic excitement into active Kiwis

From First Up, 5:51 am on 6 August 2021

The Olympics is drawing to a close with cycling, athletics and golf ending New Zealand's medal campaign on Sunday. Over the past fortnight, friends and family of our athletes, who have been unable to travel to Tokyo have gathered at The Cloud to watch the action.. Our reporter Ella Stewart was there yesterday to ask people watching Tom Walsh and Lisa Carrington what they loved about the Olympics. So New Zealand currently has 19 medals.. it's our biggest medal haul ever with three days still to go. We got six gold thanks to our New Zealand sevens women, the rowing men's eight, single sculler Emma Twigg, Lisa Carrington and Caitlin Regal in the K2500 and Lisa Carrington who won two other gold medals on her own to make her our country's most decorated Olympian. So how do we measure our success and how do we turn this record medal haul into a healthier and more active population? Nathan Rarere spoke with the CEO of Sport NZ Raelene Castle.
