Robertson: moving alert settings could ease hospital pressure

South Auckland GPs will offer free appointments for the second weekend in a row in a bid to curb the pressure on Middlemore Hospital. Counties Manukau DHB are paying GP practices up to $350 per patient to try to stop people going to the emergency room for ailments that could be treated by a doctor. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said moving from orange back to the red alert level setting to ease pressure on our hospitals would require a law change because it was set up in a covid framework.
