Dunedin Mayor on wild weather, Army on standby

From First Up, 5:49 am on 27 July 2022

The wild weather has been absolutely hammering the South Island and in Dunedin it's been bad enough for the Army to go on standby should its help be needed. Further north, more than 70 millimetres of rain fell on Christchurch in just 24 hours yesterday, overflowing the Avon and Heathcote rivers. Some Christchurch residents say this is the worst flooding they've seen in over a decade. And residents of Canterbury and Otago are being warned of more rain to come today. Joining Nathan Rarere from the frontline is the Mayor of Dunedin Aaron Hawkins.
