Airfares rising fast, airlines warn to book flights early

Air New Zealand is warning travellers to book holidays early as a combination of rising fuel prices, inflation and high demand have forced it to review and hike airfares. International and domestic passengers alike are crying foul, complaining of airfares costing two or three times the amount that they did pre-pandemic. But Air New Zealand says that "airlines price the last seats on planes higher to ensure those needing to travel urgently can fly". We sent Leonard Powell to Auckland Airport to investigate.
