Unless Coromandel roads fixed quickly, residents will leave

To the Coromandel now where Transport Minister Michael Wood will today meet with local leaders to discuss plans for the peninsula's crippled roading network. His visit coincides after the release of a survey taken by the Pauanui Ratepayers and Residents Association that has amassed 716 responses. Many of these expressed concern about difficulties accessing hospitals and healthcare; others - the long commutes facing workers and school students. Some respondents were worried about the impacts on business due to few tourists passing through and the amount of time it's taking to replenish stock. Several respondents said they're even considering leaving the Coromandel for good. Peter McIlwaine spoke with Coromandel Mayor Len Salt.
