Shortage of geotech engineers hampers insurance payouts

A shortage of geotech engineers across the country is hampering efforts to address insurance claims from Auckland residents nine weeks on from Cyclone Gabrielle. Red stickered Muriwai residents want a timeframe for resolution, with many fearing their insurance cover will run out before the Council completes geotechnical assessments. But as Leonard Powell reports, a shortage of engineers means some Nelson residents are still waiting for resolution after their city's floods almost nine months ago.
