Tauranga City Council to charge hospo to use footpaths

Now think about Paris or Rome - those cafe tables out in the sunshine where you can watch the world go by. Well hospitality outlets in Tauranga would like to re-create that al fresco vibe, but Tauranga City Council is planning to charge them for it. But it isn't just hospitality businesses who are worried about the proposal. Retailers, too, say council has been vague about who will be affected by the charges. One of them is Jo Veale who owns three businesses in Mt Maunganui. She was present at the council consultation meeting and she spoke with Nathan Rarere.
