Karekare a year on from Auckland floods of 2023

Cyclone Gabrielle ravaged many parts of the North Island last February, destroying homes, and taking lives. Karekare Beach on Auckland's west coast was hit hard, with damaged roads, red stickered houses, many of which have slipped off the hills. Local fire fighter Toby Hyman took our reporter Leonard Powell through Karekare last February, when they had been without road access or power for ten days. A year on, Leonard and Toby retraced their steps to see what, if anything has changed in the isolated beachside settlement.
