10:20 Update on the Bromley Big Stink

We have the very latest on The Big Stink in Bromley - the Christchurch suburb where locals turned out in force for a community meeting tonight to hear from Christchurch Mayor Liane Dalziel and other councillors and council staff about the sewage and other pongs plaguing their neighbourhood.

Damian Elley has his home and business in the area, and is one of many residents fed up with the sickening stench and what locals see as a lack of urgency by the authorities to do anything about it.

He's worried about the environmental impact as well as the health and wellbeing consequences ..and is wondering if the awful odours weren't stinking out Christchurch East, but some of the city's more affluent suburbs, it might be a different story.

10:30 It's a Dog-Eat-Tofu World Out There!

What do you feed your pet? Tossing your dog a meaty bone might not be the best thing for it, according to a growing number of committed vegans who are turning to plant-based nutrition for their cats and dogs, as well as themselves. Who says they are meat-loving carnivores? Maybe veges and grains are the way to go for a happier, healthier animal.

We talk to the woman dubbed The Vegan Vet - Dr Arielle Griffiths, a British vet and director of 'Just Be Kind Dogfood'. She reckons the more plants you add to their diet, the healthier your pet will be.

But can plant-based meals really meet a dog or cat's nutritional needs?
