Police bolsters team scanning for threats online

The police are now significantly boosting its team dedicated to scanning for threats on the internet - three years after the mosque attacks.

Before the attacks the police had no such dedicated team.

Seven months later, the Open Source Intelligence team was established, but initially lacked secure funding.

Police now say four permanent specialist staff have been recruited and it is aiming to add two more this year.

16 officers from other districts or teams have also been seconded in.
