Making Video Content Accessible

From Lately, 10:36 pm on 24 May 2022

A year 13 student from St Orans College in Upper Hutt has launched a campaign including an online petition for 'legal captioning standards' on media producers. New Zealand is currently one of the only countries in the OECD that doesn't legally require media producers to create closed captions. This means that a lot of video content, like news, tv shows, sporting events and movies can't be accessed by around 800,000 thousand Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Hope Cotton is doing something about it.
