Children's Commissioner says lockdown hit some youth hard

From Midday Report, 12:42 pm on 14 December 2020

Families that were already disadvantaged fared worst when the country went into Covid-19 lockdown, according to a survey of children and young people in Aotearoa.

The office of the Children's Commissioner surveyed 14-hundred tamariki and rangatahi aged between 8 and 18 immediately, after the first lockdown from March to May.

It asked young New Zealanders about their living situation, relationships, general wellbeing and how they spent their time during lockdown.

The Children's Commissioner, Andrew Becroft, spoke to Māni Dunlop.
