2017-18 summer NZ's hottest on record - NIWA

It's official - we've just experienced the hottest summer on record. NIWA figures show the average temperature nationwide during the summer months was 18.8 degrees celsius, which is 0.3 degrees above the previous record set in 1934-35. Niwa's principal forecasting scientist is Chris Brandolino. He tells Guyon Espiner the baseline average temperatures around the world have risen, and they're expecting temperatures will continue to rise.
