Ardern backs Curran over RNZ meeting

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is backing her Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran in the wake of the resignation of senior RNZ news executive Carol Hirschfeld. Ms Hirschfeld stepped down yesterday after misleading RNZ's chief executive Paul Thompson over a meeting she had with Clare Curran late last year. On Tuesday Mr Thompson told RNZ political editor, Jane Patterson, that Ms Hirschfeld had repeatedly assured him the meeting at the Wellington cafe was coincidental.
