The new chair of the embattled Counties-Manukau District Health Board has had an extensive first-hand look at the scale of the problems at the crumbling Middlemore Hospital. Many of the hospital buildings are rotting because of poor weather sealing and some are riddled with asbestos. Mark Gosche's tour of the hospital was scheduled to take three and a half hours - in the end it took five. He discusses the issues with Guyon Espiner.
