Coromandel virtually cut off by storm

From Morning Report, 6:44 am on 16 July 2018

The Coromandel remains cut off from the north, after the upper North Island was hammered by wind and rain over the past 24 hours. The Kopu-Hikuai and Manaia Roads were closed due to major slips, while State Highway 25 between Kaimarama and Whitianga was shut due to flooding. Northland and Auckland also bore the brunt of the bad weather. Seventy-seven houses were without power for most of Sunday. Thames Valley Civil Defence Controller Garry Towler joins us now from Whangamata.
