Plunket must be open about direction - Nurses Organisation

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 11 September 2018

Nurses are warning changes at Plunket in Auckland will reduce clinics for babies from better off families to just 10 minutes or even cut them out entirely. Plunket is rejecting this saying it's not planning to change any services. But an internal planning document obtained by RNZ says staff will be shifted to high needs areas. The document says this could result in fewer home visits in other areas and presents the risk that clients will fall 'through the gaps'. Plunket declined an interview. The Nurses Organisation has made a submission to Plunket - union organiser Danielle Davies told reporter Phil Pennington nurses fear Auckland will be a pilot for altering Plunket's core task of providing healthcare for all babies equally. Plunket has issued a statement saying it is not changing its universal services.
