Auckland Council warned over consents backlog

Auckland Council is being warned its reputation is on on the line unless it makes urgent changes to tackle the backlog of building consents. It has processed more than 12,000 new home consents in the past year but admits even with staff working significant amounts of overtime it's taking longer than it wants to get through the work. And as Tom Furley reports the pressure is only going to increase as the government's Kiwibuild programme picks up pace.
