Climate change: Nations agree to plan at COP24

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 17 December 2018

The Minister for Climate Change James Shaw says an agreement reached at the UN climate conference in Poland is not perfect, but it's a good start. Nearly 200 countries have agreed to a set of rules for implementing the Paris climate Agreement, which aims to limit global temperature rises to less than 2 degrees. The agreement has been criticised by many developing countries and environmental groups for not being ambitious enough. Mr Shaw says the agreement of a global rules system and new transparency measures are a big breakthrough.
