Older Pakeha dominate submissions to Auckland Council
The voices of younger, poorer and ethnically diverse communities in Auckland are being drowned out by older, wealthier, Pakeha residents, an RNZ investigation has found. The 26-thousand submissions made on Auckland Council's long-term 2050 Plan were dominated by Pakeha in particular - even in areas of the city where they're a minority. Auckland Council's manager of engagement, Kenneth Aiolupotea says the council ran about a hundred consultations last year and minority groups do get involved when they can see a direct effect on them.
