Meth-related cases at Waikato DHB more than doubles since 2014

From Morning Report, 6:17 am on 8 February 2019

Methamphetamine-related admissions to mental health services in Waikato have more than doubled in the past five years. Figures obtained by RNZ show there were 40 admissions to Waikato DHB's Adult Mental Health Ward for Methamphetamine use in 2014 - that now stands at nearly 100. Waikato DHB's Clinical Director for Alcohol and Drug Services, Tejpal Singh, says meth is placing a huge strain on medical staff and resources. He told RNZ reporter Katie Doyle how meth users act when they're being admitted to his department.
