Pittsburgh synagogue raises funds for mosque shooting victims

From Morning Report, 6:17 am on 18 March 2019

A Jewish organisation in the United States is fundraising for the Christchurch Muslim community after hearing of the mosque attacks. In 2018, Muslim communities raised over $200,000 for Jewish victims when the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh was attacked. Eleven people were killed by a gunman who opened fire in the synagogue in October. And now, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is reciprocating the generosity by raising money for the Muslim community in Christchurch. Its president and chief executive, Jeff Finkelstein, tells Kim Hill why the federation felt compelled to start fundraising.
