Waiho River bridge replacement nears completion

The replacement for the Waiho River bridge that was washed away in torrential rain nearly two weeks ago will be open at the end of this week. That means the bridge on State Highway Six that connects Franz Josef to Fox Glacier will be ready just in time for the school holidays. The loss of the bridge has meant a detour of hundreds of kilometres for anyone needing to get through by road. The Transport Agency system manager is Pete Connors.
